10.06.05 - SYSTEM OF A DOWN SET TO RELEASE HYPNOTIZE NOVEMBER 22 ON CD AND DUALDISC

Six months after System of a Down’s Mezmerize debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, the uncompromising and outspoken quartet returns with Hypnotize, part two of a promised two-album set. American Recordings/Columbia will release two versions of Hypnotize, the band’s fifth studio album, on November 22nd.

Both the CD and DualDisc versions feature 12 new songs as well as artwork by Vartan Malakian, father of SOAD’s guitarist/singer Daron. The packaging for Hypnotize is specially designed to physically join Mezmerize and Hypnotize together, forming one unified product with continuous artwork. Additionally, the DualDisc edition will contain a film by Gariné Torossian which explores the making of both records.

More importantly, the albums interlock musically. The final track on Hypnotize, “Soldier Side” completes “Soldier Side Intro,” which appears as the opening track on Mezmerize.

System of a Down has kicked off a 23-date tour of Europe this Friday, May 27 that includes appearances at major rock festivals in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, and Switzerland, as well as a three-night headline stand at London's Brixton Academy. System of a Down will headline a major North American arena tour (with The Mars Volta as special guest) beginning early August. Dates will be announced shortly.

The first single, "B.Y.O.B.," is already on alternative and rock radio, and the band just completed shooting a video for the song in Los Angeles in March directed by Jake Nava.

"B.Y.O.B" is one of the 11 songs (including the intro) that make up Mezmerize. The band has also released the cover artwork for Mezmerize, which was painted by Vartan Malakian, father of guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian.

Friday, October 28, 2005 - NYC and Lewiston shows cancelled

Due to Shawn "Clown" Crahan's father passing away, SLIPKNOT has been forced to postpone its Philadelphia, PA (10/27 and 10/28) and cancel its New York, NY (10/30, 10/31 and 11/1) and Lewiston, ME (11/3) shows on its FINAL VOLUME tour.

The Philadelphia show will now take place on Tues Nov 8th. This date was previously slated to be that of the second show in Worcester, MA. The second Worcester date has been cancelled so that the Philly fans will have their fair chance to see the band. Any Philly fans who can't make the rescheduled show should try to attend the Atlantic City show on 11/9.

The tour will resume, with dates happening as scheduled, on 11/4 in Montreal, Canada.

All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. The band deeply apologizes for all cancellations and changes.

The Philadelphia shows on 10/27 and 10/28 have been cancelled following the passing of Clown's father. We are working on rescheduling the dates and will let everyone know as soon as possible.
